Mirjam Scharnofske Allkofer
Mirjam Allkofer (1984, Northern Germany) lives and works in Geneva, Switzerland.
As a landscape architect and artist, I explore the perception of places and the traces they leave in our memory. My work emerges from impressions gathered in everyday life and during travels: light, landscapes, architecture, memories, and observations merge into atmospheric visual worlds that move between reality and imagination, the familiar and the abstract.
Tulips on a table, the song of a blackbird in the evening, afternoon tea at four o’clock, rock sugar dissolving in a cup of tea, or the ornamental patterns of traditional embroidery are as much a part of my visual memory as landscapes and urban spaces. Drawing on these observations and recollections, I develop a personal visual language through vibrant colours, simplified forms, and visible brushstrokes.
At the heart of my work lies the question of what remains of a place: not as a precise representation, but as a mood, a memory, or an echo. Personal experiences, familiar scenes, and observed moments are transformed into paintings that preserve memories while opening up new associations and interpretations.
SKE Atelier is named after my long-standing signature, “Ske.”
